JOB SUMMARY

Candidates are expected to teach statistics courses for undergraduate and graduate students while meeting USEK’s requirements for excellence in teaching, research, and service to the University and community.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  1. Design and teach statistics, and actuarial science courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels
  2. Meet the requirements for excellence in teaching set by USEK
  3. Engage in research/publication and/or creative activities
  4. Supervise student’s internships and practical school-teaching education
  5. Advise, coach and mentor students
  6. Keep course portfolio documents required for program review and quality/accreditation processes
  7. Participate in committee assignments at the department, Faculty and university levels
  8. Participate in student recruitment
  9. Work as part of a team and to be open-minded and cooperative
  10. Participate in professional development activities
  11. Meet the requirements for excellence in teaching set by USEK
  12. Supervise student’s research master thesis
  13. Engage in research/publication and/or creative activities
  14. Supervise student’s internships and practical school-teaching education

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Doctorate/PhD degree in Actuarial Mathematics, Statistics or related fields
  2. Demonstrated ability or potential for excellence in teaching, research, and service to the university and to the profession
  3. Demonstrated content knowledge in Actuarial Science and Statistics
  4. Relevant teaching experience in higher education using English as the language of instruction
  5. Research/publications and/or creative activities in Actuarial Mathematics or Statistics
  6. International scientific publications in the area of expertise
  7. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
  8. Demonstrated ability or potential to secure external funds for research/projects
  9. Demonstrated ability to integrate technology and teach courses online
  10. Demonstrated ability to provide academic and career advising for students
